Lost in Translation!
Hi, Hope, everyone’s ok.
The matter is that right now I’m working on my course research. I’m writing about translation movie’s names. You know, in Russia our distributors prefer finding new names for new releases. For example, “Beautiful Mind” was translated as “???? ??????” (Games of Sense, or something like that), “Konstantin” as “?????????? - ?????????? ????” (Konstantin - the Lord of the Darkness), etc. It’s an interesting topic, I’ve heard that other countries also change original names of movies and books according to their genres and contents just to get more people to the cinema. Maybe you have such examples in the US, Brazil, Mexico, Germany and so on? It doesn’t matter what language is used: Spanish, German, Portuguese, whatever. All I ask is that you give the original name, its translation and your own suggests (how it should have been translated). Please, let me know so I could use it in my work ![]()
